Leading From Self: Applying Internal Family Systems℠ to Leadership
What happens inside you when you lead?
Leadership tends to bring certain parts of us forward. Maybe you've witnessed the part of yourself that feels responsible for having all the answers, or the part that prefers to stay quiet rather than risk conflict.
Each of these parts is trying to help, even when it doesn't feel that way. And yet most leadership training teaches you what to do, without ever touching
what's happening inside you while you're doing it. In this experiential 5-hour workshop, Richard C. Schwartz and Michelle Gibson, Certified IFS Therapist and Consultant, invite you to turn the lens inward and explore your own internal leadership system. It's an opportunity to step away from your day-to-day demands and get a felt sense of what it's like to lead from a steadier, more grounded place.
Workshop Details
Beneath all our parts is a calm, clear presence IFS calls Self. When we lead from Self, we build resilience, connection, and better decision-making, both for ourselves and the people around us.
Through guided meditation, experiential exercises, reflection, and a live demonstration, you'll get curious about the parts running the show. And you’ll practice accessing Self so you can explore what it means to show up with greater confidence and authenticity.
What You'll Explore
- Explore core IFS concepts of parts and Self and how they show up in the way you lead
- Recognize protective parts that drive, manage, or hold you back under pressure
- Map your own internal leadership system and notice patterns that may otherwise feel automatic
- Practice reflective tools you can return to when leadership gets challenging
Who This Workshop Is For
You may already recognize yourself in some of these experiences:
- You lead a team, a practice, or an organization, and you want to make clearer decisions under pressure
- You've noticed the same reactive pattern show up again and again, and you're ready to understand what's driving it
- You want to show up as a steady and grounded leader, not just a capable one
- You're a coach or supervisor who wants to bring more of yourself into how you lead others
- You're curious what it would mean to lead from a calmer, more authentic place, even when things get hard
If so, you’ll come away from the Leading From Self workshop with more clarity, more choice, and a steadier way to lead.
Tuition: $227
Includes:

Meet the speakers
Michelle V. Gibson, MSW, RSW, is a psychotherapist, IFS Level 3 Certified therapist, and IFSI Approved Consultant with over 15 years of clinical experience. She is the Founder and CEO of Gibson and Associates Psychotherapy, a multi-location group practice operating across Ontario, Canada, and The Nest Collective Inc., a community-centered organization offering IFS-informed leadership workshops, experiential events, and consulting services for individuals and organizations ready to lead differently.
A clinician turned leader, Michelle holds a deep curiosity about the intersection of IFS, leadership, and workplace dynamics, and about what it means to approach leadership itself as a spiritual path. She believes that the same principles that create healing in the therapy room can transform the way we show up in our organizations, our teams, and our communities.
Her greatest joy is working alongside fellow clinicians and leaders at every level, from those just stepping into their first leadership role to seasoned executives ready to lead from a deeper place. She is the developer of Lead From Within, an IFS-informed leadership program that invites leaders to build from Self-energy rather than from fear, performance, or protection.
Michelle is based in London, Ontario, Canada.
