February 3: IFS Basics – Parts & Self
David A Hoffman · Richard C. Schwartz, PhD
Presented by: David A. Hoffman, JD
Bring greater clarity, steadiness, and choice to the moments that matter most. In this six-week live online workshop, lawyers, mediators, and conflict-resolution professionals will learn to apply Internal Family SystemsSM (IFSSM) principles to better understand their own reactions, navigate difficult client dynamics, and approach conflict, and high-pressure conversations
with greater curiosity and confidence.
Legal and mediation work asks you to think clearly in situations where emotions, competing priorities, and conflict can run high. This program offers a practical framework for understanding what happens internally in those moments—both for you and for the people you work with—so you can respond with greater awareness rather than simply react.
Across six live, experiential sessions, David A. Hoffman, JD, and featured guests Dr. Richard Schwartz, Mike Elkin, and Fatimah Finney will explore how IFS principles can support self-awareness, client engagement, negotiation, difficult conversations, and professional decision-making. You’ll have opportunities to apply these ideas directly to the kinds of situations lawyers and mediators encounter every day.
No previous IFS experience is required. This program is not about becoming a therapist; it is about adding a powerful lens for understanding human behavior, maintaining your own steadiness under pressure, and bringing more clarity, compassion, and choice to your professional practice.
All weekly sessions are 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET [Find the time in your area]

Diversity/Inclusion: Individuals identify as part of the Global Majority and/or LGBTQ+ communities and whose life’s work (how you are currently serving your community within your professional capacity) supports Global Majority communities, LGBTQ+ communities, marginalized communities, and/or poverty-stricken communities. Global Majority: This is an evolution of the term 'people of color' that describes those who are of Indigenous*, African, Asian, Latin American and Arab descent, who have encountered societal projections resulting in lived experiences of being othered.
The term global majority encompasses the vast majority of people worldwide, and is employed to demonstrate the strength of global solidarity without recentering white vantage points.
*Indigenous Peoples are distinct social and cultural groups that share collective ancestral ties to the lands and natural resources where they live or once lived, before displacement and colonization.
Economic Need: Individuals whose total household income is at/below $90,000 USD/year.
